It’s not easy.

It’s not easy being a female in a society that treats you only as an object. An object to sexualize, to own, to obsess over and to be over-protective about.

You are reduced to a prey with predators all around.

What you need, little girl, is strength. What you don’t need, little girl, is insecurities.

Brace your inner beauty & make womanhood your strength, never your weakness.

Yes, I see how difficult it is for you to take so much as a five minute walk alone. I hear the comments too and I know one day you’ll lose it. Again. And pick up a stone. Again. But will it hurt the savage as much as his words hurt you?

Be strong, little girl. Survive. Live.

And be alert. Be aware of the passers-by who’ll brush their bodies against yours. If you carry a shock gun, go ahead. Give them the thrill they deserve. If you don’t have such a weapon, what can you do?

And what if you are surrounded by a bunch of stalkers? What then? I do worry about you, little girl. You read the newspapers too. Don’t you? You know about the acid-throwers, the rapists, the street harassers… hundreds of our sisters tortured every day.

The predators roam around unpunished.

Be strong, little girl. They’ll point their fingers at you. They’ll tell you it’s your fault.

Survive. Live. Fight. Focus. You have dreams of your own. Worthy of your pursual. Let nothing dampen your spirits. Take pride in who you are. Wipe your tears. And live.

Over 70% of the women in Pakistan are subjected to abuse. This post is dedicated to all my sisters in Pakistan, no matter what their background, who are oft subjected to psychological & physical harrassment. May God be your protector.
