Rang-e-Khoda
Rang–e–Khoda (Color of God) aka The Color Of Paradise is a very beautiful movie – achingly beautiful. It feels so real and captures the whole of you. It’s the story of Muhammad, a blind boy but his blindness is no hindrance to his feeling the beauty of the world around him.

He is loved by all except his unfortunate father. When Muhammad ‘s father takes him away, he is crushed by grief.

“Our teacher says that God loves the blind more because they can’t see. But I told him if it was so, He would not make us blind so that we can’t see Him. He answered “God is not visible. He is everywhere. You can feel Him. You see Him through your fingertips.” Now I reach out everywhere for God till the day my hands touch Him and tell Him everything, even all the secrets in my heart.”

The film will convince you that you don’t need eyes to feel God. You just need to have God in your heart.

I won’t discuss the plot in detail. It’s a movie that’s to be watched and felt. I’m sure it will touch your heart and wet your eyes, but will you smile too.

Rang-e-Khoda is written and directed by Majid Majidi – the man behind Children of Heaven (an equally beautiful film, better than “A Beautiful Life” – if you ask me), Baran (another favourite – with a fabulous ending scene), Baduk, etc.

If it’s from Majid Majidi, you can be sure as anything that it’s going to be good.

There is a drug that claims to offer a painless life & eternal bliss. You don’t believe me, do you? I did not believe it either when I saw the words (“Painless Life, Eternal Bliss”) written clearly on the promo material of the particular drug in question. Needless to do say, I still don’t believe it.

I’m not even talking about recreational drugs like ecstasy pills or LSDs. I’m talking about a medicine. Only medicines come with promo materials. When was the last time you came across cannabis being advertised for Influenza? (Cannabis is used to treat symptoms of influenza, cancer, etc – however, consult your physician first – I know some of you just need a reason to get into it!)

So, you must still be wondering about the drug. It’s a household name: Ponstan.

Yes, Ponstan’s offering you a painless life & eternal bliss.

My sister made me take Ponstan when she examined my finger but my life is still the same. I hurt my finger while making tikka boti. No. I didn’t end up barbequing it. A huge rock fell from the sky and squashed the third finger of my left hand. Okay, I’m exaggerating. A block slipped my brother’s hand and it hit my finger – which is still all blue and swollen. And it still hurts. Ponstan’s promised painless life is a sham for sure. The only bliss was eating tikka boti, but it didn’t last an hour – let alone eternity.

Sigh. If only there was such a medicine. I looked up the side-effects of the “painless life – eternal bliss” pill. Well, I’m listing only the common ones:

  • abdominal or stomach cramps, pain, or discomfort (mild-to-moderate)
  • diarrhea
  • dizziness, drowsiness, or lightheadedness
  • headache (mild-to-moderate)
  • heartburn, indigestion, nausea, or vomiting

Hm, what say?

“Angels! Can God give me a miracle?”

Angels:Sure! But you’ll have diarrhea & vomiting to go with it.
